Well I hope you did not feel judged by me as a man for my defense of the term mansplaining. It isn't really my definition, by the way. The term was inspired by Men Explain Things to Me: Facts Didn't Get in Their Way", written by Rebecca Solnit. The term is meant to reference a problem women have in our society. A problem they have strictly because of their genitals. A problem that has unfortunately been accepted in society for too long. It is such an insidious problem that many of us were not even away it was happening. The problem isn't that people patronize one another, it is that it has become a societal norm for men to do it to women. This is what that word is around for. When this happens in other situations we should use a different word.
